Create Optimism Token

Connect to the chosen blockchain.
Choose a great name for your token.
Choose a great symbol for your token.
Smart contract name is being derived from your token name and visible after verification. If you are not sure, we recommend keeping the default value.
Choose how many tokens you want to create.

Tokens

If the Mintable feature is enabled, the owner will be able to mint new tokens until the total supply reaches the maximum supply.
Choose how many decimal places your tokens can be divided to. If you are not sure, we recommend leaving it at 18.
Instead of your wallet, enter a different address to receive the initial supply of tokens.
Instead of your wallet, enter a different address that will have ownership of the token after it is created.

How to create an Optimism token?

OP Mainnet (chain ID 10) is the original OP Stack chain - the same technology that now powers Base, Worldchain, and a growing list of Superchain members. Optimistic rollup architecture inherits Ethereum's security while delivering roughly 100x lower fees than mainnet. The Optimism Collective's governance gives the chain stronger decentralization signals than most L2s, and tokens deployed here have a clear path to cross-chain composability with the rest of the OP Stack family.

Quick deployment walkthrough

Connect your wallet (Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, or any WalletConnect option), switch to OP Mainnet, and configure your token's name, symbol, supply, and decimals. Pick optional features like mintable, taxes, anti-bot cooldowns, or transfer limits, then sign and deploy your Optimism token. Mainnet usually costs a few cents or even less in ETH.

What "Superchain" means for your token

The Superchain is the network of OP Stack chains sharing security, governance standards, and (increasingly) native interoperability. Your Optimism token gets the easiest cross-chain path to Base, Worldchain, and other OP Stack ecosystems compared to non-OP-Stack chains. Practically, this means OP Mainnet's reach extends well beyond its own users as Superchain interop matures.

Liquidity, listings, and grants

Velodrome is Optimism's flagship native DEX, using a ve(3,3) model where VELO holders direct emissions to specific pools - which means you can incentivize liquidity by bribing voters, a more capital-efficient approach than passive farming. Uniswap is the main alternative for general liquidity. Submit to CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap after launch, and if your project has open-source or public-good components, look into Optimism's Retroactive Public Goods Funding rounds.

Choose the type of token from table below:

OP Mainnet usually costs a few cents or even less in ETH for deployment, plus a 20lab service fee shown on the summary.

Both run nearly identical OP Stack code, so the technical experience is similar. Base has more retail attention and Coinbase's distribution funnel, which makes it stronger for memecoins and consumer apps. OP Mainnet has stronger DeFi liquidity (Velodrome, Synthetix), the Optimism Collective's governance, and access to Retroactive Public Goods Funding for projects with public-good utility. Pick by audience, not technology.

The Superchain is the network of all OP Stack chains (OP Mainnet, Base, Worldchain, and others) that share a security model and can communicate natively without third-party bridges as that infrastructure rolls out. Practically, your Optimism token gets the easiest cross-chain path to other Superchain ecosystems compared to non-OP-Stack chains. It also means OP Mainnet's user base effectively extends to every other chain in the Superchain over time.

Velodrome uses a vote-escrowed model where VELO holders lock their tokens for veVELO, then vote each week on which liquidity pools receive emissions. For new tokens this matters because votes can be incentivized with bribes - paying veVELO holders to vote for your pool, which directs VELO emissions to your liquidity providers and bootstraps deeper liquidity than passive farming. It's the standard mechanic for serious launches on Optimism.

Yes - RetroPGF is one of Optimism's defining features. The Optimism Collective periodically distributes OP tokens to projects that have generated public good for the ecosystem, with each round having different criteria. Tokens themselves don't directly qualify, but tools, infrastructure, and applications built around your token can. Worth checking the current round's rules at optimism.io if your project has open-source or public-good components.
