The 20lab update tool lets you change these essential metadata fields:

• Name - The full name of your token
• Symbol - The short ticker symbol for your token
• Image - Your token's logo or picture
• Description - Description for your token

The tool updates these fields directly on the Sui blockchain, making sure your changes are immediately available across all Sui apps and services.

For Sui tokens, only the wallet that holds both the Metadata cap and Treasury cap can change metadata. This means:

• The original creator of the token (if they still have both caps)
• Any wallet that was given the metadata cap and treasury cap
• A multisig wallet if the caps were transferred to it

If you don't have access to the wallet with the right caps, or if the metadata and treasury caps have been revoked, you can't change the token's information. This keeps your token secure and prevents unauthorized changes.

Updating your token's metadata with 20lab is quick and easy:

1. Connect the wallet that has the metadata cap and treasury cap
2. Enter your token's address (on Sui also called coin type)
3. Update the name, symbol, image, and description as needed
4. Confirm the transaction

20lab takes care of all the technical details for you. Your updated metadata is stored directly on the Sui blockchain with logo itself kept securely on IPFS.

No, changing metadata only updates the display information about your token. It doesn't affect:

• Token balances and who owns what
• Token decimals and total supply

Metadata updates only change how your token looks and is described in wallets, explorers, and other interfaces. The actual functionality of your token stays exactly the same.

On Sui, metadata updates appear faster than on many other blockchains:

• DeFi apps and marketplaces - Usually update within hours, but some may take longer based on their refresh schedules

The update tool works with all Sui tokens, including:

• Standard Sui coins created on 20lab
• Any Sui tokens that use 0x2::Coin module

However, the tool cannot update metadata for:

• Tokens where the metadata cap and treasury cap has been revoked
• Tokens where you don't have direct access to the required caps
